Data Warehouse

Summary

The UCAP data warehouse is provided for making reporting from UCAP fast and efficient. The database stores non-normalised UCAP data to be used for marketing purposes, where contact is needed for persons' addresses and/or connections.

Description

The Data Warehouse is designed for reporting purposes only. For this reason there is no UCAP user interface to look at the Data Warehouse data.

Data Warehouse data is created in the UCAP Interbase database. This data may easilly be replicated into Microsoft SQL Server (via SQL Server DTS services)

It's easy to Report from the Data Warehouse.

Updating the UCAP Interbase Data Warehouse

The Data Warehouse is not kept up to date with current UCAP data. The Data Warehouse may be updated via:

The Data Warehouse Log window (good for interactive rebuilds); or

Running the "RebuildDW.bat" batch file (good for scheduling)

Running the data warehouse stored procedure Update_Warehouse.

Access Limitations

Access to the Data Warehouse is via the Data Warehouse Log window. Accessing the Data Warehouse via the UCAP menus

Note

For efficiency purposes, we suggest the data warehouse be run from a different server to the main UCAP server.
